Our people

Jon

Jon founded the business in 2010, having previously worked in both a plc and SME environment. He’d long hankered after setting up on his own, so when the opportunity arose, he did just that. For the career history and embarrassing self promotion, take a look at his LinkedIn profile here.

With three young offspring to keep him busy, Jon conveniently found an office five minutes from home.  Living on the edge of the Peak District means when relaxation and exercise is needed, he heads for the hills.

Gemma

With a masters degree in television journalism, Gemma has held roles in journalism and managed the PR function of a regional agency before taking a leap of faith to join a start up business.  She is most at home with a flip chart and marker pen, brainstorming ideas. A creative at heart, she has responsibility for Sales and PR and is adept at building relationships and delivering above and beyond client requirements.

Away from work, Gemma loves nothing more than walking in the country with Benson, her puppy, and enjoying the company of friends and family over a glass of white wine.

Oliver

The role of managing many of our clients on a day to day basis sits with Oliver.  With a keen eye for detail and a creative mind, Oli helps construct communications that really engage and connect with clients.

A talented music graduate, Oli likes nothing better than to be fronting to a crowd whilst belting out some original folk lyrics.  And he has a unique hidden talent – the ability to recite verbatim every monarch that has sat on the throne since 1066, names, dates and all the detail… beat that!

Lee

Lee is the man for all things techie and is completely at home coding stuff that the rest of us have little or no clue about.  The dark world of the developer is where Lee enjoys spending his time, equally comfortable coding vintage HTML for eShots or PHP for back-end websites; the man is an enigma to the rest of us.

Oh… and he’s not half bad with graphic design applications either.

Oliver

Emma’s our in-house designer, from concept to creation, Emma loves turning ideas into reality to build authentitc, powerful brands and marketing collateral.  With a keen interest on typography she’ll certainly set you straight with your ‘serifs’

Outside the office Emma enjoys running with a view to one day completing a marathon…. we look forward to sponsoring her!

Sarah

Sarah’s eye for detail is way beyond what others would consider normal, making her the perfect Sub-Ed for all our copywriting and freelancers work.  In her ‘spare’ time, Sarah has three youngsters to keep her on the straight and narrow…

Mark

Mark sold an IFA business in Spring 2010 to do what he’d always wanted to do – write. Working with ClientsFirst, he now provides SMEs with both content – if they don’t have the time or the desire to write – and consultancy services, helping them to develop successful strategies for blogging and social media.

He’s worked with Which? HSBC and the archetypal one man band.  More of Mark’s work can be found at www.simplewords.co.uk
